Baseball Game Preview: Smoky Mountain Mustangs vs. Tuscola Mountaineers

Smoky Mountain hasn't had much luck against Tuscola recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Mustangs will face off against the Mountaineers at 7:00 p.m. Tuscola took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Smoky Mountain, who comes in off a win.

Tuscola will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Smoky Mountain extended their winning streak to three on Tuesday. The Mustangs never let Franklin get on the board and left with a 4-0 win. The game was the first time the Mustangs have beaten the Panthers on their field since May 25, 2021.

Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Tuscola's offense. They fell just short of East Henderson by a score of 1-0 on Wednesday. The contest marked the first time this season in which the Mountaineers were not able to get on the board.

Smoky Mountain pushed their record up to 11-4 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Tuscola, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-4.

Smoky Mountain suffered a grim 13-2 defeat to Tuscola in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
