Recap: New Prairie Cougars vs. South Bend Adams Eagles
The New Prairie Cougars were the 60-49 winner over the South Bend Adams Eagles when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. New Prairie took a 63-49 bruising from South Bend Adams on Friday. New Prairie has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the defeat, New Prairie had strong showings from Trenton Klute, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds, and Marshall Kmiecik, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. Kmiecik is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Jaydon Clemons was another key contributor, scoring four points along with two steals.
South Bend Adams was led to victory by Jarvis Tolbert and Amari Wesson. Tolbert scored 20 points along with three steals, while Wesson scored 24 points along with seven rebounds. Tolbert has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kj Johnston, who scored six points along with five assists.
New Prairie's defeat was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-17. As for South Bend Adams, their win bumped their record up to 8-11.
New Prairie will head out on the road to square off against Goshen at 7:03 p.m. on Tuesday. Goshen knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully New Prairie likes a good challenge. As for South Bend Adams, they will be playing at home against Mishawaka at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
