Baseball Recap: New Prairie Continues Home Dominance on Wednesday

While New Prairie's win against Mishawaka Marian wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Cougars won by a run and slipped past the Knights 8-7. Eight seems to be a good number for the Cougars as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

The team relied heavily on Reed Robinson, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. New Prairie is undefeated when Robinson posts two or more runs, but 4-5 otherwise. Zak Henrich also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

New Prairie hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mishawaka Marian struck out seven times.

New Prairie's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-5. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Mishawaka Marian, they now have a losing record of 7-8.

Looking ahead, New Prairie will face off against Hobart at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Mishawaka Marian, they will challenge Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
