Baseball Recap: Sexton Big Reds vs. Everett Vikings
Sexton extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 20 on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 0-3 in the process. They lost 16-7 to the Everett Vikings. The Big Reds were not able to make up for their defeat to the Vikings from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.
As for Everett, the win got them back to even at 1-1. The high-scoring effort was just what they needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.
For Everett's part, Tony Williams made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Williams was even better at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
In other batting news, Everett let Nolan Prevo and Evan Flynn run wild. Prevo went 4-for-5 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs, while Flynn went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Fernando Solis was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Coming up, Sexton will face off against Olivet at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Everett, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against DeWitt at 4:00 p.m.
