Softball Recap: Winthrop Vikings vs. Ipswich Tigers
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Medford, Winthrop was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Ipswich Tigers with a sharp 14-6 victory. That eight run margin sets a new team best for the Vikings this season.
Lucy Boncore made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. Boncore was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Kylie McFarland and Guiliana Marenghi did most of the damage at the plate: McFarland went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Marenghi went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
