Volleyball Recap: Lafayette Comes Up Short

Lafayette was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Oxford Chargers. The Commodores were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Chargers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Lafayette sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The final score came out to 25-20, 19-25, 15-8.

Lafayette's defeat dropped their record down to 5-14. As for Oxford, their win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-7.

Looking ahead, Lafayette will square off against New Hope at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Oxford, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 2-1 victory against Northwest Rankin on the 6th.
