Football Recap: Seneca Skates Past Blue Ridge with Ease

There's no place like home for Seneca, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They breezed past the Blue Ridge Fighting Tigers to the tune of 47-13 on Friday. The Bobcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Seneca's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Gavin Thoma led the charge by throwing for 250 yards and four touchdowns while completing 81% of his passes, and also punching in one score on the ground. Amari Verner handled things on the ground, rushing for 163 yards and a rushing touchdown.

When it comes to explaining why Blue Ridge lost, don't look at Gavin Forrester. Despite the final result, he rushed for 106 yards and one TD on only 12 carries, and also threw for 167 yards on 17 of 24 attempts. Forrester got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 68 yards.

Seneca pushed their record up to 6-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 7.5 points on average over those games. As for Blue Ridge, they suffered their first road loss, dropping their record down to 4-2.
