Basketball Recap: Oneida Takes a Loss

Oneida was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They came up short against the Vernon-Verona-Sherrill Red Devils, falling 75-53. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Express have suffered against the Red Devils since January 28, 2022.

Oneida's defeat dropped their record down to 3-13. As for Vernon-Verona-Sherrill, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 4-12.

Oneida and Vernon-Verona-Sherrill could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps New York Rankings. Oneida will take on Maine-Endwell at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday down 418 places (567 vs. 149). Similarly, Vernon-Verona-Sherrill (ranked 643rd) will meet New Hartford (ranked 265th) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
