Basketball Recap: Blair Blazers vs. Laurel Spartans
Blair and Laurel squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Blair had to settle for second. They fell 71-62 to the Laurel Spartans. While losing is never fun, the Blazers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 96th, while the Spartans are ranked 21st).
Jermaine Taylor was his usual excellent self, going 9-for-17 en route to 26 points for Laurel. Taylor's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 21 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian Brown, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and ten rebounds.
Blair's loss dropped their record down to 15-9. As for Laurel, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-4 record this season.
Blair does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Laurel, they have already played their next game, a 74-62 win against Mergenthaler Vo-Tech on the 8th.
