Softball Recap: Superior Comes Up Short

After flying high against Marshall on Thursday, Superior came back down to earth. The Spartans came up short against the Eau Claire North Huskies on Friday, falling 10-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Spartans have suffered since May 29, 2025.

Superior saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cora Cockerham, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Superior has also been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.2 runs over those games. As for Eau Claire North, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

Looking ahead, Superior will look to defend their home field on Friday against Hudson at 4:30 p.m. As for Eau Claire North, they will head out on the road to square off against Rice Lake at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Warriors have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.38 runs per game on average), something the Huskies will no doubt try to take advantage of.
