Softball Recap: West Orange Comes Up Short

West Orange extended their losing streak to five on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 3-15 in the process. They lost 17-4 to the Lake Howell Silverhawks. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Warriors of the 7-4 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Cali Flowers made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was her first of the season. Sofia Pizzi was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs.

As for Lake Howell, the victory was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 17-4. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games.

On Lake Howell's side, Nisabella Fatzinger-Rodriguez made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Fatzinger-Rodriguez has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Lake Howell got a massive performance out of Skaii Rodriguez, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. That's the most runs Rodriguez has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Hodosko, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Looking ahead, West Orange will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against St. Cloud at 6:00 p.m. As for Lake Howell, they will head out on the road to challenge Timber Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
