Basketball Recap: Whitmer Has No Trouble Against Central Catholic

Whitmer hadn't done well against Central Catholic recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Whitmer Panthers enjoyed a cozy 50-36 victory over the Central Catholic Fighting Irish. This was payback for the Panthers, who suffered a 62-39 loss the last time these two teams met.

Madison Finch was a one-woman wrecking crew for Whitmer as she went 7 for 10 en route to 21 points and four steals. Another player making a difference was Olivia Welch, who posted nine points and six boards.

Whitmer's win bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Central Catholic, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-10.

Whitmer will host Findlay at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Central Catholic has already played their next contest, a 45-42 defeat against Lumen Christi Catholic on the 22nd.
