Recap: Evans Knights vs. Academy of Richmond County Musketeers
The Evans Knights lost against the Academy of Richmond County Musketeers back in November, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Evans fell 48-38 to Academy of Richmond County. Evans has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Evans' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kimariya Hinton, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 15 rebounds. Hinton is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Deedee Brooks was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with seven rebounds.
NaCja Johnson continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Academy of Richmond County, scoring 22 points. That makes it five consecutive games in which Johnson has scored at least 25% of Academy of Richmond County's points. Another player making a difference was Bailey Guider, who scored eight points.
Evans' loss was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-5. As for Academy of Richmond County, their win ended a 11-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-3.
Evans won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Portal at 6:00 p.m. on December 9th. As for Academy of Richmond County, they will head out on the road to face off against South Aiken at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. South Aiken presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Academy of Richmond County in their respective states (South Aiken is ranked 59th in South Carolina, while Academy of Richmond County is ranked 212th in Georgia).
