When Kyle Schwarber was called up to the Chicago Cubs last month, all he did was hit .364 with a home run and six RBIs in six games.

His reward? A one-way ticket to Des Moines.

It must have been hard for the Cubs' front office to send Schwarber back to the minors, but that was the plan all along — to give Schwarber a brief taste of the big league life.

Schwarber's minor league days might be a thing of the past, however, now that the Cubs have called him up once again.

Not every player could handle the roller coaster ride, but Schwarber is a tough kid from Ohio. So tough, in fact, that he was a second team all-state linebacker for Middletown (Ohio).

MaxPreps was on hand to get photos of the young standout on the football field, years before he would become a part of the resurgent Cubs' young core.
