Baseball Game Preview: Clinton Gaels vs. Lunenburg Blue Knights

The Clinton Gaels will head out to take on the Lunenburg Blue Knights at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Clinton's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so Lunenburg's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Clinton's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 9-0 margin over Maynard. The victory continues a trend for the Gaels in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won four in a row.

Not much got past Braydan Huban, who gave up just five hits to keep Maynard off the board.

At the plate, Josh Nelson was a standout: he got on base in two of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Brian Silvester was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Lunenburg couldn't beat Ayer Shirley on Friday even though they stacked four runs on them in the seventh inning. The Blue Knights fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 6-4. The Blue Knights haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Clinton's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Lunenburg, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Clinton skirted past Lunenburg 3-2 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Will the Gaels repeat their success, or do the Blue Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
