Basketball Recap: Millikan Find Success

Millikan hadn't done well against Lakewood recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Millikan Rams escaped with a win against the Lakewood Lancers by the margin of a single free throw, 77-76. This was payback for the Rams, who suffered an 81-68 loss the last time these two teams met.

Tariq Bridges had an outrageously good game as he went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc on his way to 34 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Joseph Wicker, who went 7 of 8 on his way to 16 points and seven assists.

Millikan was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

The win made it two in a row for Millikan and bumps their season record up to 10-7. As for Lakewood, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-8.

Millikan will host Long Beach Poly at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Lakewood, they will head out to square off against Woodrow Wilson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
