Basketball Recap: Rising Sun Comes Up Short

Rising Sun was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 52-43 to the Jac-Cen-Del Eagles. The Shiners were not able to make up for their defeat to the Eagles from their previous meeting back in January of 2024.

Despite the loss, Rising Sun still got an impressive performance from Carrigan Friend, who went 6 of 10 en route to 17 points and six rebounds. Tamryn Miller was another key player, putting up 12 points along with five boards and three steals.

Even though they lost, Rising Sun smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive matchups.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Jac-Cen-Del to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brooklyn Simon, who went 7 for 15 on her way to 22 points and five steals. The dominant performance gave Simon a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Kelsey Borgman, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds.

Rising Sun's loss dropped their record down to 5-14. As for Jac-Cen-Del, their win bumped their record up to 7-13.

Rising Sun has already played their next contest, a 63-54 defeat against Southwestern on the 25th. As for Jac-Cen-Del, they will square off against South Ripley at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
