Volleyball Recap: Hueneme Takes a Loss

Hueneme extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to four on Thursday, dropping them down to 0-3. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Santa Paula Cardinals. Vikings fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Cardinals since Thursday.

Santa Paula's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-7. The game was the first time they have beaten Hueneme on their court since September 13, 2022.

Kathy Valdez was the offensive standout of the matchup as she had 14 digs and three aces. Those 14 digs gave her a new career-high.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Hueneme is set to take on their familiar foe Channel Islands at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Santa Paula will face off against rival Carpinteria at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
