Air Academy came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 3-0 to Cheyenne Mountain.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-12, 25-17, 25-10.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Lewis-Palmer, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They blew past Palmer Ridge 3-0 on Thursday. The Rangers not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since August 28th (when they won 3-0).
Lewis-Palmer not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Palmer Ridge between 16 and 18 points across their sets. The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-16, 25-18.
Air Academy better focus on containing Cady Knight and Olivia Ivall as the pair were huge in Lewis-Palmer's win. Knight had 16 digs and two aces, while Ivall had 13 assists and eight digs. Knight has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more digs the last 11 times she's played.
Air Academy's loss dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Lewis-Palmer, their win bumped their record up to 5-7.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's matchup: Air Academy has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 7.6 aces per game. However, it's not like Lewis-Palmer struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.6 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Air Academy suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Lewis-Palmer in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Can the Kadets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
