Baseball Game Preview: Montwood Rams vs. Eastwood Troopers

The Montwood Rams will square off against the Eastwood Troopers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Montwood has given up an average of 7.1 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Montwood is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 11 runs on Saturday, they were much more limited against Coronado on Tuesday. They lost 14-2 to the Thunderbirds. The defeat continues a trend for the Rams in their meetings with the Thunderbirds: they've now lost four in a row.

Montwood saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Joziah Gutierrez, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

Meanwhile, Eastwood entered their tilt with Coronado on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Thunderbirds with a sharp 14-4 win.

Eastwood's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-9-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Montwood, their loss dropped their record down to 12-15-2.

Montwood came out on top in a nail-biter against Eastwood in their previous meeting back in March, sneaking past 7-6. Will the Rams repeat their success, or do the Troopers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
