Football Recap: George County Rebels vs. Hattiesburg Tigers

While it was all tied up 21-21 at halftime, George County was not quite Hattiesburg's equal in the second half on Friday. They came up short against the Tigers, falling 42-21. The Rebels have struggled against the Tigers recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, George County still got an impressive performance from Branden Gautier, who rushed for 156 yards and two scores, and also picked up 40 receiving yards. Gautier showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 65 yards.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hattiesburg to victory, but perhaps none more so than Gavin Ducksworth, who threw for 419 yards and three TDs while completing 87.5% of his passes. The dominant performance also gave Ducksworth a new career-high in passer rating (166.7). Hattiesburg's leading receiver Davion Young was Ducksworth's top target yet again, picking up 240 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

George County's record now sits at 3-5. As for Hattiesburg, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-2.
