Recap: Nunamiut Amaguq vs. Tikigaq Harpooners
After a string of four wins, the Nunamiut Amaguq's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They were the victim of a tough 82-61 defeat at the hands of Tikigaq. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game two weeks ago (57), Nunamiut still had to take the loss.
Despite the loss, Nunamiut saw an underclassman step up: Kevin Gordon scored 20 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Justus Mulcahy, who scored 11 points.
Nunamiut's loss dropped their record down to 4-1. As for Tikigaq, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 3-11 record this season.
Nunamiut's road trip will continue as they head out to face Non Varsity Tournament Opponent at 4:00 p.m. on January 26th. As for Tikigaq, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Scammon Bay at 7:00 p.m. Scammon Bay presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Tikigaq in Alaska (Scammon Bay is ranked fifth, while Tikigaq is ranked 77th).
