Recap: Santa Fe Indian Braves vs. Robertson Cardinals

The Santa Fe Indian Braves lost against the Robertson Cardinals back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Santa Fe Indian fell just short of Robertson by a score of 32-30. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Santa Fe Indian in their matchups with Robertson: they've now lost nine in a row.

Santa Fe Indian's loss came despite strong showings from Kaydence Riley and Emma Lewis. Riley scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and six steals, while Lewis almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds. Lewis is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last nine games she's played.

Robertson got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Taylor Quintana out in front who scored ten points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Natalia Martinez, who scored five points along with two steals.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Santa Fe Indian will take on St. Michael's at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Michael's is coming into the match with four straight victories on the road, meaning Santa Fe Indian will have to defend against a squad hungry for a win. As for Robertson, they will play host again and welcome Socorro, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Socorro will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New Mexico Rankings (they are ranked 115th, while Robertson is ranked 28th).
