Softball Recap: Middlesboro Takes a Loss

Middlesboro was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Harlan County Black Bears. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Yellowjackets of the 5-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Middlesboro's loss dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Harlan County, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Middlesboro will venture away from home to challenge Bell County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Harlan County, they will head out to face off against South Laurel at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cardinals' pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so the Black Bears' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
