Basketball Recap: Kristian Jones' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Tonasket over Mabton

Tonasket suffered their closest loss since January 5, 2024 on Saturday. They fell just short of the Mabton Vikings by a score of 59-56.

Tonasket's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kristian Jones, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 rebounds. Jones' afternoon made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Tanner Tompkins, who posted 18 points and seven rebounds.

Tonasket's loss dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Mabton, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-4.

The future could be bright for both Tonasket and Mabton: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. Tonasket will try to hand Manson their fourth-straight defeat when the two meet at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Mabton will try to hand River View their eighth-straight loss when the two meet at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
