Volleyball Recap: Ellis Takes a Loss

Ellis lost against South Gray back in September of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Railroaders took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rebels.

The defeat didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: South Gray scored at least 19 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-20.

Despite the loss, Ellis still got an impressive performance from Taylor Kohl, who had eight digs and five assists.

South Gray was led to victory by Keagan Mel Eesa Showalter and Kady Foskuhl. Mel Eesa Showalter had seven digs and two aces, while Foskuhl had four digs and two aces. That's the most aces Foskuhl has posted over her last nine matchups.

Ellis has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season. As for South Gray, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 17-2.

Ellis has already played their next contest, a 2-1 loss against Smith Center on the 30th. As for South Gray, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-0 victory against LaCrosse on the 27th.
