On the hitting side, Bailey Hedgecock was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.
Cedar Vale/Dexter hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Medicine Lodge struck out 13 times.
Meanwhile, Oskaloosa narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Central Heights 3-1.
Oskaloosa also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Lily Pullen gave up a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up 13 Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Keirstyn Mitchell, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Lydia Turner, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double.
Oskaloosa's victory bumped their record up to 20-5. As for Cedar Vale/Dexter, their win bumped their record up to 22-1.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Cedar Vale/Dexter hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Oskaloosa struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
