Softball Game Preview: San Mateo Bearcats vs. Carlmont Scots

San Mateo hasn't had much luck against Carlmont recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Bearcats will face off against the Scots at 4:00 p.m. Neither San Mateo nor Carlmont posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Hillsdale hit San Mateo with a seven-run fourth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Bearcats came up short against the Fighting Knights, falling 11-1.

San Mateo saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alice Han, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one run.

Meanwhile, Carlmont suffered their biggest defeat since April 17th on Tuesday. They lost 17-1 to Capuchino.

Carlmont has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last ten games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-18 record this season. As for San Mateo, their loss dropped their record down to 14-8.

San Mateo skirted past Carlmont 8-6 when the teams last played back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bearcats since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
