Softball Recap: Turner Takes a Loss

Turner came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the Creekview Mustangs, falling 10-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mustangs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-0 back in March.

Grecia De La Garza put in work no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and seven unearned) runs off 11 hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

De La Garza wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Hailey Serrano, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Turner has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season. As for Creekview, they pushed their record up to 16-13 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Looking ahead, Turner will face off against Lone Star at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. The Lions' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rangers have averaged an impressive 8.7 runs per game this season. As for Creekview, they will challenge Wakeland at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. The Mustangs will need to watch out since the Wolverines have now posted at least ten runs in their last three matchups.
