Basketball Game Preview: Mount Mercy Academy Magic vs. Nardin Academy Gators

Mount Mercy Academy hasn't had much luck against Nardin Academy recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Mount Mercy Academy Magic will square off against the Nardin Academy Gators at 6:00 p.m.

On Friday, Mount Mercy Academy was beaten by Our Lady of Mercy 52-15. While losing is never fun, the Magic can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 608th, while the Monarchs are ranked 53rd).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Nardin Academy). They were the clear victor by a 57-31 margin over Williamsville East on Friday. The match was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Gators had established a 25 point advantage.

Nardin Academy has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 9-12 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.3 points over those games. As for Mount Mercy Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-14.

Mount Mercy Academy suffered a grim 45-24 defeat to Nardin Academy in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. Can Mount Mercy Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
