Volleyball Recap: Emma Little and Emma Ingold Secure Win for Asheboro

If Eastern Guilford wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Asheboro, they should've done a better job of containing Eva Vuncannon. The Blue Comets blew past the Wildcats 3-0 on Thursday for which the team can thank Vuncannon, who had seven aces and three digs. She has been hot recently, having also posted 12 or more assists the last three times she's played.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Asheboro took every set by at least 11 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 25-11, 25-13.

Asheboro was led to victory by Emma Ingold and Emma Little. Ingold had seven digs and four aces, while Little had six digs and four aces.

They weren't the only good servers: Asheboro was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 21 aces. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their ace total in three consecutive matchups.

Asheboro's record now sits at 14-6. As for Eastern Guilford, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-13.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matches. Asheboro will take on Northeast Guilford at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Eastern Guilford, they will challenge Northern Guilford at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Nighthawks will roll in looking for their 12th straight win, something the Wildcats surely won't give up without a fight.
