Softball Recap: Glenns Ferry Comes Up Short

Glenns Ferry has relied on a stalwart pitcher averaging 3.1 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Friday. They took a 10-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Genesee Bulldogs. The Pilots were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bulldogs earlier this season, when they won 5-2.

Peyton Stewart and Marlee Mason stepped up to the plate in a big way. Stewart went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Mason went 3-for-4 with four RBI and one run. Natalie Hernandez was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs.

This is the second loss in a row for Glenns Ferry and nudges their season record down to 24-6. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 18-1 Potlatch (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 86.3% over those games). As for Genesee, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 21-6.

Glenns Ferry does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Genesee, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 10-7 defeat against Potlatch on the 16th.
