Basketball Recap: Washington County Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Zion Cordy and Brashod Heggs

Washington County lost against Baldwin last Saturday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Washington County Golden Hawks fell 60-53 to the Baldwin Braves. While losing is never fun, the Golden Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 338th, while the Braves are ranked 80th).

Despite the defeat, Washington County had strong showings from Brashod Heggs, who posted 12 points, and Zion Cordy, who went 5-for-7 on his way to 12 points. Linton Robinson was another key player, putting up four points.

Deven Nelson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Baldwin, going 7-for-13 to rack up 26 points and seven rebounds. Zion Grant also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Washington County dropped their record down to 7-13 with the loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Baldwin, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season.

Washington County has already played their next game, a 57-49 defeat against Dublin on the 4th. As for Baldwin, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 47-31 win against Howard on the 4th.
