Baseball Recap: El Rancho Find Success

After losing to Whittier the last time they met, El Rancho decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Dons came out on top against the Cardinals by a score of 5-2 on Friday.

Alexander Moraza made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Moraza was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on David Aguirre, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of El Rancho's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 6-8 when he doesn't). Alex Aparicio was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

El Rancho hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Whittier struck out nine times.

El Rancho now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Whittier, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. El Rancho will square off against La Serna at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Whittier, they will welcome Garfield at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
