Baseball Recap: Brunswick Dragons vs. Morse Shipbuilders

Brunswick couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They wound up on the wrong side of a rough 12-6 walloping at the hands of the Morse Shipbuilders on Monday. Brunswick was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Morse apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2023.

For Morse's part, Braylon Williams made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (he also only allowed one walk). Williams was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-5.

In other batting news, Jackson Murray was a standout: he scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Caleb Harvey, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

The win got Morse back to even at 1-1.

Brunswick will head out on the road to square off against Oxford Hills at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday. As for Morse, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Gray-New Gloucester at 4:00 p.m.
