Volleyball Game Preview: Calvary Christian Spartans vs. Kingdom Christian Lions

The Calvary Christian Spartans will face off against the Kingdom Christian Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with 19 defeats in a row, Calvary Christian turned things around against Miami Valley on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Rams with a sharp 3-0 victory. The Spartans not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since October 1, 2024 (when they won 3-0).

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Calvary Christian was: they took every set by at least ten points. The final score came out to 25-15, 25-5, 25-14.

Meanwhile, Kingdom Christian posted their closest win since September 5th on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over Grand Lake Christian. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Kingdom Christian got the one that really mattered. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 23-25, 25-19, 16-25, 15-12.

Kingdom Christian's victory bumped their record up to 15-6. As for Calvary Christian, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-7 and their overall record up to 2-19.

Calvary Christian was able to grind out a solid victory over Kingdom Christian in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, winning 3-1. Will the Spartans repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
