Recap: Chittenango Bears vs. Westhill Warriors
The Chittenango Bears pushed their score all the way to 77 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 84-77 to Westhill. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Chittenango of the 61-55 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2023.
When it comes to explaining why Chittenango lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ryan Moesch. Despite the final result, he scored 46 points. That was a full 59.7% of Chittenango's points, marking the 14th time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Brendon Barnard was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Chittenango's defeat dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Westhill, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chittenango on the road again on Thursday and play against Homer at 6:45 p.m. on January 18th. Homer will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New York Rankings (they are ranked 387th, while Chittenango is ranked 124th). As for Westhill, they will head out on the road to challenge Mexico at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Mexico has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 186 points over their last three matches.
