Basketball Recap: Providence Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Providence needed a changed in momentum after dropping seven straight games and they got it from Emma Fuller. The Providence Panthers were the clear victor by a 47-25 margin over the Independence Patriots on Tuesday thanks in part to Fuller, who posted ten points along with eight boards and six blocks. She has been hot, having posted eight or more boards the last six times she's played.

The team also got some help courtesy of Marlee Whitten, who had six points in addition to eight boards and three steals. That's the most steals she has posted since back in January of 2024.

Providence's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 4-11. As for Independence, they are on a 14-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-13.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Providence will host Rocky River at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Providence has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Independence, they will challenge East Mecklenburg at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
