Recap: Independence Knights vs. Argyle Eagles
The Independence Knights fell victim to the Argyle Eagles''s stalwart defense on Thursday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were dealt a 63-0 defeat at the hands of the Eagles. While losing is never fun, Independence can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 835th, while Argyle is ranked 87th).
Coburn Reese threw for 65 yards on seven of 19 attempts. Blake Waligura was his top target, picking up 33 receiving yards and no touchdowns.
Argyle found their leader in underclassman Maguire Gasperson, who threw for 131 yards and four touchdowns while completing 72.7% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Jake Krekeler was another key contributor, rushing for 66 yards and two touchdowns.
Independence has fallen quite a ways from their 8-3 record last season and are now at 1-7. As for Argyle, the victory was the sixth in a row for they, bringing their record for this year to 6-2.
Independence will head out on the road to face off against Lake Dallas at 7:00 p.m. on October 27th. As for Argyle, they will look to defend their home field on October 27th against Denton at 7:00 p.m. Both teams might be coming in a bit winded given how much these teams ran in their prior games.
