Volleyball Preview: Butler Bulldogs vs. South Mecklenburg Sabres
The Butler Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the South Mecklenburg Sabres at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Having struggled with nine losses in a row, Butler turned things around against Berry two weeks ago. They put the hurt on the Cardinals with a sharp 3-0 win. The Bulldogs not only won two weeks ago, but they posted their biggest win since March 13th (when they won 3-0).
While Butler won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the first set they played. The final score came out to 25-23, 25-0, 25-0.
South Mecklenburg needed a changed in momentum after dropping seven straight games and they got it from Phoenix Modie. Everything went the Sabres' way against West Mecklenburg on Tuesday as they made off with a 3-0 victory with plenty of help from Modie, who had 20 kills, six aces, four blocks, and three digs. He is on a roll when it comes to kills, as he's now had five or more in each of the last 15 games he's played dating back to last season.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-9, 25-21, 25-8.
South Mecklenburg's win bumped their record up to 5-8. As for Butler, they picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 2-10.
