Baseball Recap: Augusta Triumphs

Augusta pushed their score to seven the last time they played Nicholas County, but on Friday they couldn't quite do it again. Augusta's pitcher stepped up to hand Nicholas County a 2-0 shutout. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Not much got past Keeton Bach, who gave up just six hits to keep Nicholas County off the board.

On the hitting side, Grayson Miller was excellent, scoring a run and stealing four bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Maddox Hesler, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

The win got Augusta back to even at 2-2. As for Nicholas County, their loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-2.

Coming up, Augusta will challenge Heritage Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Nicholas County, they will take on Walton-Verona at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
