Basketball Recap: Mt. Healthy Comes Up Short

Mt. Healthy lost against Archbishop McNicholas back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Mt. Healthy Fighting Owls came up short against the Archbishop McNicholas Rockets, falling 72-52. While losing is never fun, the Fighting Owls can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 526th, while the Rockets are ranked 203rd).

Archbishop McNicholas was led to victory by Charlie Clark and Grant Waters. Clark went 9-for-19 en route to 21 points and eight boards, while Waters posted 15 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists. Clark is becoming a predictor of Archbishop McNicholas' success: when he posts at least 20 points the team is undefeated (and 9-11 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Owen Nienaber, who had 12 points.

Mt. Healthy has been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 11 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-16 record this season. Archbishop McNicholas now has a winning record of 12-11.

As of now, neither Mt. Healthy nor Archbishop McNicholas have any future games scheduled.
