Baseball Recap: Calhoun Academy Comes Up Short

After flying high against Tunica Academy last Tuesday, Calhoun Academy came back down to earth. The Calhoun Academy Cougars lost 9-3 to the Regents Lions on Friday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cougars of the 13-11 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

Bronnor Bingham and Layton Logan did some serious damage despite the final result: Bingham scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances, while Logan scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Logan has been hot, having also posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played.

Calhoun Academy now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Regents, their victory bumped their record up to 2-0.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Calhoun Academy will host Kirk Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Regents, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Lions duke it out with the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on February 28th.
