Basketball Recap: Northumberland Christian Takes a Loss

Northumberland Christian was the 56-51 winner over Columbia County Christian when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Northumberland Christian Warriors fell to Columbia County Christian 56-52.

Columbia County Christian's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Pierce Cughan, who posted 17 points in addition to four steals and four blocks. Cughan's evening made it ten games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Sharyf Conklin was another key player, dropping a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.

Northumberland Christian's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 5-6. As for Columbia County Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season.

Northumberland Christian will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Belleville Mennonite at 7:30 p.m. on February 4th. As for Columbia County Christian, they will square off against Columbia Montour Vo-Tech at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Columbia Montour Vo-Tech has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with six straight losses, while Columbia County Christian will come in with eight straight victories.
