Basketball Recap: Cascade Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Cascade and Fort Benton squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Cascade had to settle for second. They took a hard 64-50 fall against the Fort Benton Longhorns. The Badgers' loss signaled the end of their 17-game winning streak.

Fort Benton found their leader in freshman Kelton Vielleux, who shot 6-for-10 from long range and dropped a double-double with 28 points and 11 boards. Thanks to that strong game, Vielleux now owns an excellent 45.3% shooting accuracy. The team also got some help courtesy of Kellan Diekhans, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and ten rebounds.

Cascade's defeat dropped their record down to 17-2. As for Fort Benton, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season.

Cascade didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 65-31 win against Heart Butte on the 27th. As for Fort Benton, they have also already played their next matchup, a 54-52 victory against Denton/Stanford/Geyser/Geraldine on the 28th.
