Basketball Game Preview: Flandreau Fliers vs. DeSmet Bulldogs

Flandreau and DeSmet are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2015, but not for long. The Flandreau Fliers will welcome the DeSmet Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Flandreau is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of South Dakota's top teams: Sioux Valley, who was ranked 12th at the time (Flandreau was ranked 25th). Flandreau lost to Sioux Valley on the road by a 60-46 margin on Friday.

Meanwhile, DeSmet waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Elks 59-23. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 23 points or more this season.

DeSmet's victory bumped their record up to 11-6. As for Flandreau, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-5.

Everything came up roses for Flandreau against DeSmet in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as the team secured a 67-34 win. Will Flandreau repeat their success, or does DeSmet have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
