Softball Recap: Sahuarita Takes Down Mica Mountain in a Playoff Battle

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Sahuarita walked away with it. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Mica Mountain Thunderbolts a 6-0 shutout on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won 23 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Mayrani Munoz was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.

Sahuarita has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.4 runs over those games. As for Mica Mountain, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 20-12.

As of now, neither Sahuarita nor the Thunderbolts have any future games scheduled.
