Basketball Game Preview: Shaw Raiders vs. Spencer Greenwave

Two dominant guards in Alenzo Talley and Kerry Griffin are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Shaw Raiders will welcome the Spencer Greenwave at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Shaw is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Carver on Saturday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Shaw had to suffer through a 77-42 loss at the hands of Carver. The defeat continues a trend for the Raiders in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now lost four in a row.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Spencer, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. Everything went their way against Hardaway on Monday as Spencer made off with a 70-50 victory. The Greenwave have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 20 points or more this season.

Spencer's win bumped their record up to 13-5. As for Shaw, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-12.

Shaw ended up a good deal behind Spencer in their previous meeting on January 7th, losing 60-41. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Griffin, who went 8 for 17 en route to 20 points. Now that Shaw knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time?
