Hillsboro hasn't had much luck against Godley recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Eagles will take on the Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. Hillsboro is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.4 runs per game this season.
Last Saturday, Hillsboro was able to grind out a solid victory over Ferris, taking the game 5-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.
Izzy Hernandez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Laci Forns was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Brynlie Vantreese, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
Forns wasn't the only one making solid contact: Hillsboro kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Godley had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.4 runs) and they went ahead and made it eight on Tuesday. They skirted past the Yellowjackets 10-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wildcats have posted since March 1st.
Godley also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Karlee Clark gave up seven earned (and one unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up seven Ks.
At the plate, Godley let Alyssa Sullivan and Dakota Watson run wild. Sullivan scored two runs while going 4-for-4, while Watson went 3-for-5 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most hits Watson has posted since back in March. Bree Hubbard was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-5.
Godley pushed their record up to 23-6 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.1 runs over those games. As for Hillsboro, their record now sits at 16-9.
Both Hillsboro and Godley just can't seem to miss. The Eagles have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.2 hits per game. However, it's not like Godley struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.6 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Hillsboro suffered a grim 20-10 defeat to Godley when the teams last played back in March. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
