Baseball Recap: Checotah Comes Up Short

Checotah was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against the Catoosa Indians, falling 17-9. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Indians apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2019.

Cale Thompson and Bryce Marshall stepped up to the plate in a big way. Thompson went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs, while Marshall went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI. Thompson is becoming a predictor of Checotah's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 1-13 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Mason Rainbolt, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.

Checotah's defeat dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Catoosa, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-8.

While Checotah had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
